Does this sound familiar?

When the swings run your life

Highs that run hot

Bursts of energy, little need for sleep, racing ideas, and decisions that feel great until they don’t.

Lows that hit hard

Crashes into exhaustion and hopelessness, and weeks that seem to disappear.

Whiplash in between

Mood shifts that make it hard to trust your own plans, and hard for people around you to keep up.

Misdiagnosed before

Bipolar disorder is often mistaken for depression alone. If treatment keeps missing, the diagnosis may be why.

Sleep sets the tempo

A few short nights can tip an episode. Your rhythm matters more than most people’s.

Ready for steadiness

You want a provider who watches the whole pattern over time, not a single snapshot.

Bipolar I, bipolar II, and cyclothymia each look different, and getting the diagnosis right changes everything about treatment. That’s exactly what a careful evaluation is for.
What to expect

Thorough care, from evaluation to follow-up

Whether this is your first psychiatric appointment or your fifth provider, the work starts with understanding the whole picture.

In-depth psychiatric evaluation

A real conversation about your history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. Unhurried, and at your pace.

Careful differential diagnosis

Bipolar disorder is one of the most misdiagnosed conditions in psychiatry, often mistaken for depression alone. I look at the whole pattern before naming anything.

Medication management

If medication makes sense, I prescribe and adjust it with you, monitoring closely and explaining every decision.

Genetic-informed options

When clinically appropriate, Genomind pharmacogenetic testing helps match treatment to how your body responds.

What patients say about working with Evan

5.0 rating on Google

I came to Evan during a challenging transition in my late twenties when I was struggling with structure, focus, and figuring out my next steps. He gave me practical tools to better manage my focus, create structure, and redirect my energy in a more productive way. What I appreciated most was how comfortable, respected, and understood I felt throughout the process.

HHelenaGoogle review

Evan has been my NP for over 6 months and has been nothing but professional and competent. He's level-headed, on-time, and reliable. For anyone looking for an NP, you would be a fool NOT to use Evan; respectfully.

Good questions

What people ask before booking

Do I need a referral?+

No. You can book directly. Just send the form or give me a call and I'll take it from there.

Do you take insurance?+

I accept most major insurance plans. Contact me and I'll confirm your specific coverage before your first appointment.

Telehealth or in person?+

Both. I see adults across Florida by secure video, and in person at my Palm Harbor office. You choose what suits you.

Do you prescribe medication?+

Yes. As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe. Medication decisions are always made with you, and reviewed at every follow-up.

I’ve been treated for depression, but it never quite worked. Could it be bipolar?+

Sometimes, yes. Depressive episodes are usually what bring people in, and the hypomanic side can go unnoticed for years. A careful history is how we find out, and it changes which treatments make sense.

Is it confidential?+

Yes. Your care is private and protected under HIPAA, whether you're seen online or in person.
